My New Online Home (and Blog)

My apologies if you recently received blog posts from me that contained placeholder text. (You know . . . “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet. . .”) In the exciting process of creating my new site, my web designer and I didn’t immediately put “website under construction” on the posts we were using as tests. Again, apologies.

While my old site served me well—you may remember it, or not—it was time for something modern and mobile friendly and blog focused. Thanks to Marilyn Jones of RiverCity Productions for helping me with the revamp. I still need to add my writing and editing portfolio pieces, but I’m getting there.

About blogging, I’m going to do it. I know that, as a freelance writer, I should have been doing it already. Here’s an excellent article about why almost everyone should blog. And here’s an article that says long-form blog content is the way to go in 2019. That means a minimum of 1000 words and a maximum of—really?—10,000 words on a regular basis.

Apparently, the accepted standard was 500 words in 2008, according to this article, which I love because it goes on to say that even in today’s long-form-blogs world, length does depend on a bunch of things. Short is okay sometimes. Ahhhh!

So, I’m going short with this first post. There will be more coming. Some will be about writing and editing (the world I work in), some will be about travel (the world that enchants me—the photo is of me in lovely Moscow last year), and the rest will be about . . . everything else. Length? Well, that will depend.
